Case Four

Project: To supply of a key intermediate for a phase II clinical molecule to a top US based Emerging Pharmaceutical (Biotech) Company.
Challenge: Due to the mounting cost pressures on a product, the customer was looking for a reliable and cost effective exclusive manufacturer from India. The product had to be manufactured under confidentiality as the technology was shared by the customer. The product was one of the key products in the customer’s portfolio.

Solution: A project team was formed and a demonstration of the process was held at the customer’s site. The team reproduced the results at the lab scale back at the Novodigm facility and then immediately scaled up for commercial manufacturing. The product quality and other standards matched the specifications. As a service initiative, alternatives were developed for purification apart from yield improvement. These benefits were shared with customer.

Result: Novodigm and the customer now enjoy a mutually beneficial long term supply contract. Being an extended arm of the European company, Novodigm has gained the first-right-of refusal status for the customer’s other requirements too.
